Spring Rain

Morning has broken, the smash of water against the windows, a deluge, a veritable flood, an overflow that impregnates and saturates flushing away the grime and detritus of winter. The hard clumpy and lumpy still frozen dirt and wilted weathered stalks of last years blooms are swamped, sloshing submerged, the wind causes a dip, duck and dunk, the rain cascading in a torrent down the brick walls. Water flushing, irrigating, rinsing and sluicing. Spring is here, rehydrating, rewashing, rewetting. Down to a drizzle, boots on, the mist humidifying, moistening and moisturizing I step outside to a sprinkle.
